The slipway at Ogmore by Sea was removed two years ago on health and safety grounds. No one was prepared to build a new one.
As a charity, Penybont SLSC could not afford to build one but the Committee agreed that a new slipway was essential for the club, local community and members of the public.
We worked closely with the Vale of Glamorgan Council and Dunraven Estates and the good news is that we raised approximately £80000 for a new slipway. Work began in March 2012 and the new slipway is now complete!!!
A golden oldie. Maybe now the new slip is in we'll see more scenes like this one (maybe without the moustaches!!!)
New Clubhouse Building
Penybont SLSC has successfully negotiated a 25 year lease on the clubhouse. However, the current building is looking very tired!
We have set up a building fund and applied for some big money through the national lottery to build a new clubhouse which would also provide meeting facilities for the local community.
The plans have been completed and submitted to the Lottery so watch this space!!!
Check out the plans for the new lifeguard centre.
As part of Penybont SLSC's aim to keep Ogmore clean, we took part in Clean Coast Week where 150 volunteers collected 120 bags of litter!
